I want to run ZoneAlarm. But it displays an ugly icon in my system tray 100% of the time. I don't mind it displaying warnings, but I don't want it to display something all the time. Is there a way to prevent it from displaying the system tray icon?

XP? Go to the taskbar and right-click/properties/hide inactive icons then hit the customize button and change the icon setting to 'always hide'.
