Using a Linksys WRT54G & Netgear DG834 together...

Hi all...first post, but I don't think this is a daft question....

Basically, I use the DG834G as my ADSL modem and wireless router. It's

under the stairs, so has no hard connections to it, it's just used for

wireless through the 2 laptops in the house.

Now I also have a Tivo upstairs, which was connected via a Linksys

WET11, which worked perfectly. Now I've also got a PC upstairs, which

is a Dell small-form factor, so I can't use a PCI wireless card.

Becuase of this, I bought a WRT54G to use as an 'extention' to the

Netgear; I'm being vague here as I'm not completely sure of the correct

terminology, but the theory was that I would hard-connect TiVo and the

PC into the WRT54G, and that would connect via wireless to the DG834,

and then out to the www.

However, this is just not happening! I've tried all sorts of config

variations (I'm by no means a wireless expert, but I'm not a dummy

either), but I still can't get it to work. In fact, when the Linksys

is plugged in, it kills the NetGear wireless network.

I'm I asking the impossible, will these never talk to each other, or is

it just a setting I need to tweak? It's driving me mad, and I need to

get it fixed tomorrow, as the PC is being set up so my wife can use

here new iPOD (Xmas pressy!)

Many thanks

Pete

I could be wrong, but if your WRT54G can be configured as an AP client

then what you are attempting to do is possible. If not, you're going

to have to run an ethernet cable from the router to the AP.
