Resricting MSN open original image

Hi everyone,

I would like to restrict my kids to be able to only log in to MSN Messenger between certain times:

Can this be done in time frames ? i.e.. Could Messenger be available until

21.15, or between 16.00 and 18.30 so that net can be used for homework but not MSN

using a belkin wireless router

Thanks in advance

Some s/w apps like NetNanny can be used to restrict access to chat and simlar tools by time. Mark McIntyre

Any kid with some skills or friends with skills should be able to get around such programs fairly easy .

With most routers you can block out specific mac adresses ( of the kids computer's) if you wish. Whether your router has specific time blocks or not I do not know. At the worst you can block and unblock manually.

as well best to have the router in a locked area. The kids could easily reset the router back to factory defaults. Used to be that for kids " high tech" meant to ring the doorbell and run away .

You can do this if you are using the IPTABLES time module. Theres some info at
