Public Access Point - INTERNET CONFIGURATION

Jun 17, 2005 1 Replies

Helo there I have a IBM notebook R50e with wireles. I discovered that nearby I have a public access point and I successfully connected to it. Everything is fine. Signal good,..surf speed 20KB/s

So I decided to buy a wireless usb adaper (ASUS WL160G ) to connect it to my desktop ( home pc ) ,.. Everything went fine, instalation, driver, signal good, connection to access point ok,...and finally connected.

The problem is that when I open my Internet explorer I cannot browse the internet,.... What configuration did I missed?

I use win XP, SP1

thanks alot

dns settings

find out what ISP they use and put in the correct DNS address

else try auto detect all - you may get lucky if you get a address beginning with 169. your not connecting to the LAN just the AP
