Netgear WG511v2 can't connect

WG511v2 card doesn't connect to a Netgear WGR614 router. SSID is present, and signal strength under the Smart Wizard "networks" tab is

98%. Other wireless clients (WG311, Lucent Orinoco Silver card, and internal Intel mini-PCI card in Thinkpad notebook) all connect fine and have strong signal strength. Tried the following, all with reboots in between, none work:

  1. no encryption on Thinkpad 570 running Windows ME.

  1. WPA-PSK on TP 570 running Win ME.
  2. no encryption on Thinkpad T41 running Windows XP SP1.
  3. WPA-PSK on TP T41 running Win XP.
  4. no encryption on Thinkpad 570 running Windows 2000 SP2.
  5. WPA-PSK on TP 570 running Win2k.

In all cases the Smart Wizard just says "Scanning..." and scans through the available channels. It is obvious that the card itself is working, as are the Windows drivers, as it can read the SSID and MAC ID of the router and report them in the Smart Wizard "Networks" tab.

I tried the driver software that came bundled with the card, version

2.0, and the beta software from the Netgear web site.

Does this sound like a defective card? Has anyone else out there had problems like this with Thinkpads?
