Can I use a Wireless Router as AP or WDS AP

Hi, since wireless router is cheaper than AP. Can I just not use the WAN port and set the router up as an AP. On the other end, can I do the same thing to setup a router as WDS AP, like this:

Cable Modem | Old Router (not wireless) ---- LAN A (4 pcs) | Wireless router (setup as AP) | {}open air | Wireless router (setup as WDS AP) | (two pcs to joint LAN A)

Is this possible. Any suggestion? Thank you Gary

Yes, that works fine. Remember to also disable the DHCP server on the router, if you have another router elsewhere providing that.

The 2nd router or AP needs to be able to operate in bridge mode. Not all can do this.
