Big (not long) question about WIFI security from the recieving end.

i get my wireless internet from someone down the street from me, and i have a question:

I do not know what type of router, but can they tell what pages i am visiting, such as paypal? Also, how could i secure my end, the one that uses the router, and protect my security and privacy. I know about proxies, but those only change da IP. I need something that will secure me.

Do they know you're doing this?

Yes, if they wanted to they certainly could. There are various ways to redirect the traffic, or just snoop the packets.

You'd have to find an external VPN server and tunnel your traffic through the local wireless network. But then you'd be a the mercy of the VPN network on the other end too.
