access wirelessly the desktop from laptop

Taking a moment's reflection, Ritter197 mused: | | What do you mean with the statement "have the UltraVNC running"? | What do you want me to do?

I'm sorry, I don't see where the words "have the UltraVNC running" appear in the text you quoted. Since I only mention UltraVNC in the last paragraph (recommending you take a look at it), perhaps you meant to reply to, and quote, someone else's message.

Taking a moment's reflection, Mark McIntyre mused: | | assuming 192.168.0.101is the right address either | a) you dont' have the VNC server running at the far end or

He would receive a "server not found" message ...

| b) your firewall at the far end is blocking it or

Possibly the XP firewall ...

| c) you configured the server to reject incoming connections from the | laptop

VNC cannot block incoming connections from specific IPs ...

True. But its easier to simply let it install itself as a service and not worry further, especially in the case of this sadly confused end-user....

you may be right. Since I have my network set up right I never encounter this problem!!

I meant the remote computer. I tend to use VNC to control servers.
