TAOS - A CenturyLink fiber-optic cable was cut Friday afternoon between Peña Blanca and Budaghers, reportedly causing a widespread loss of internet and cellphone service throughout areas of Northern New Mexico, reaching from south of Santa Fe to as far as the Enchanted Circle, according to a representative of the Kit Carson Electric Cooperative's KCEC Telecom.
KCEC Telecom broadband manager Andrew Gonzales told The Taos News on Friday evening that a Centurylink crew had been "unable to isolate the cut" before ending efforts to repair the line in a remote area in darkness. Crews were scheduled to go back out at daylight Saturday, Gonzales said.
