Both the Bell company and GTE went to a full Satt system which gave them directors and translater which would move the call along the network faster but routing it without having to go through a full switch train; ie: if it was a local office call it would drop it into the local switch train, another local office; switch it to an out going trunk, toll or long distance; into a DDD trunk.
