Vista 10 SE and fire alarm

Place an end of line resistor across zone 5. Then press your code + off twice. That should do the trick. Zone 5 is programmed as a fire zone by default. You can also reprogram the zone to be a burg zone or you may disable it altogether by selecting zone type 0 or 00 depending what version your panel is.

Is the resistor just a regular 3K Ohm like you get at radio shack?

Use the resistors that came with the panel. They would have been in a little plastic bag along with the standoffs and the door lock.

If you disable the zone then a resistor is not needed. I believe the vista 10se uses 1K Ohm resistors. Look at the wiring diagram on the door just to make sure.

Can you tell me out to reprogram or disable it? I downloaded a programming manual, but couldn't find how to do it. I either have the wrong manual or am blind.

You're probably not blind Ademco manuals are a PITA...especially the older ones.

It states several times what equipment is required to program the zones, the issue isn't bad manuals, they are designed for techs not the end user

well, that is of course troo...but who reads the manual anyway? :-) .... push the buttons bob!

I was waiting for that shoe to drop. I'd no sooner pressed "send" than I realized that... :-)
