I remember reading something about some hi tech stuff on video profiling in the group here not too long ago, it's like some fancy high tech CCTV hardware and software combination where the video is compare against a database for facial recognition, software assist auto tracking, etc. etc.
Is there a place where I can read up more on the above subjects ?

Nope. There's some real problems with it. Do a little research and you'll find a lot of facial recognition systems being dumped because they were oversold and can't deliver.
