OT: Cancer

in remission for some time. Well, I've been feeling sick for a while and my GP hasn't been able to help so I revisited my pulmonary specialist about a week and a half ago. He ordered some tests and the results were bad. After more tests my oncologist gave me the prognosis. The cancer has come back with malignant pulmonary effusion and unfortunately, it's incurable. I have somewhere between a few months and a year or so to live. There's a slim chance I may be around two or three years but without a miracle survival isn't possible. Medicine offers only palliative treatment, aimed at improving the quality of life.

For the moment I'm not feeling particularly ill, just short of breath and tired all the time. Friends who've heard the news are shocked since only recently I've been dancing, throwing parties and generally carrying on as usual. Soon I'll undergo surgery and start chemo. That will change everything.

I'm also continuing my online business as usual, although I've hired help to keep things running while I'm dealing with my illness.

Bob so sorry to hear what has happened but this is what is scaring me to death with my cancer it comming back. I hope that some how the condition will reverse for you and you are in my thoughts and prayers. But if it should take it may you go peacefully is all that I ask I know the pain i endured prior to and after my 15 hour operation and hope you will not have to go thru it.

I went for CT and PET scans yesterday. The next surgery (called VATS) is nowhere near as rough as the first one was. I'll need 2-4 days in the hospital though. Thanks for the kind words and especially your prayers. That's the only thing that will cure this one.

RHC: Bob, I didn't know what to say when you called the other evening with the news. It's stayed with me ever since it has bothered me so much. I wasn't sure you wanted to make this public until now, what with the hateful feelings of several of the people present in this newsgroup. I hope and pray that things go well in spite of your less than positive prognosis and I will continue to pray for your continued strength in this fight. The Good Lord gives each of us only so many days in this world to do the best we can with the short time given to us. When we all finally go, we want each of us to be able to look back and say that we were true to our own beliefs, and that we left the world a better place no matter how small the difference.

I and my wife will continue to pray for your recovery. Don't EVER give up; stay strong my friend, and I'll talk to you soon.

well there is your hatred of the borg and traditional alarm companies and bass hatred of traditional alarm companies. So I see why you 2 would agree. I think the rest of us hate lies being told about us and being preached to about our "evil" business practices.

Actually it's as a result of Bass' constant and years long struggle with himself, to post his most personal information on Usenet for whatever gratification he seems to get from doing so. There is no reason in the world that anyone should exhibit their personal life here except for the need to be noticed and to stand out ......... or perhaps sympathy (?)

Nothing new. He's a consummate egotist and exhibitionist. Insatiable need to appear to be more than everyone else.

He has no concept of the fact that he will pass and ultimately, no one here will really care ..... and regardless of what may possibly happen to one afterwards, that to all who remain behind ...... when you're dead, you're dead.
