Hi Jim,

Yes, I am here. This Holiday Season has been a bit of a drag for me. I have been responding to those that send me greetings but little else. Some family some friends. As for here on ASA, well I slipped up.

Thanks for the reminder and belated Merry Christmas and wishing you and the others that might stop in a Very Happy New Year!!!

Or maybe............... please make the best of 2022 that you can!!! It will be challenging to say the least. ;-(

The world may have to spin the opposite way to clear out all the bad stuff!! Then again the amount of bad stuff may be far too much.

Anyhow, have yourself a Happy New Year!!!

Hi Rocky, Les, Rocky, I don't know what's the matter with me but memory loss doesn't seem to be one of my problems. Rocky, I don't know what's the matter with me but memory loss doesn't seem to be one of my problems. Rocky, I don't - - - - - Ehhhhh - - - - - Never mind.

Anyway, Les, I sense a lull in you usually "up" posts, Don't let all this sh%#t get to you. This too will pass. Just have to wait it out. I always keep in mind that whatever good or bad that I'm feeling about an event or the actions of others is that it's not the first time that it's happened and it won't be the last. If you think about it, every generation has had some problem or other. Just think back about the 60's and 70's. Everybody thought we'd never survive the "revolution" in the culture. But we did. Think about the WWII generation. What they went though. People will look back on this time and wonder and ask us how we ever survived this and we'll just shrug it off as something that had to be done and - - - we did it. Both as individuals and as a society. Yeah, some won't survive and we may be one of those, but there's nothing new about that either. Nature put our feet on so we could walk forward easily. So - - - - just keep on moving forward. Sitting on your ass and just brooding about it doesn't help anything or anyone.. What's the words to that song? "If you feel like your going through hell, just keep on walking." Every obstacle is just another problem to overcome and then tucked away for future use in surviving as best we can in the future. Have a better year than last year.

Hello Jim, Thank you very much for the great insight!! Even though it is a bit rough around the edges you make some good points. And rightly so!!

My hope is that others reading this will also get the points you brought up. And yes, I have been a bit depressed lately, for a multitude of reasons. Not going to detail here!! But, I am sure you can guess. Things will turn around soon...............

Today I declared that 12/28/2021 is "Stump the Tech Day USA". So far I have stumped two. Which these days is not that difficult. I will share the circumstances here to see if anyone wants to join the two presently on the LIST!!

About 2 weeks ago I installed a DSC HS2064 panel with two keypads, seven zones. Yes, the HS2064 is a bit overkill but since the DSC Firmware v1.37 has be RECALLED due to some communication issue the only panel I could get was the HS2064 with Firmware v1.36. But that is not the problem. Customer requested that the system AUTO-ARM every day at 10PM. Ok, programmed as needed and yes it indeed ARMS everyday. However, it is connected to Alarm.com and the history of events is transferred to the customer by email. I will type a brief history.

10:04PM System Armed in STAY MODE by Mary Smith 10:05PM System Armed in AWAY MODE

Now I understand that since there is no opening and closing of a Entry Exit door the system goes into STAY MODE. That is not the problem. It is the fact that it displays "by Mary Smith" who happens to be in Slot 42 on the code list. So I think that maybe if Slot 42 was empty then no name will be displayed. So I moved Mary Smith to another slot position and leave Slot 42 empty. OK now wait.................

The next time it arms the following is in the history.

10:04PM System Armed in STAY MODE by John Doe 10:05PM System Armed in AWAY MODE

So John Doe code is in Slot 34!! Now when I called DSC Tech Support he said that the panel should say Slot 00 Armed the system. Then he asked if I could pull the history from the panel on site. Well NO!! I am not going to spend more TIME on SITE to play with this thing for the trivial whoops. I can't connect remotely!!

#1 Tech Stumped!!

SO, I then called ADC Tech Support and was told that the history is pulled directly from the panel and they can't help any further.

#2 Tech Stumped!!

SO, I say to Ye all that Readith the above, WHAT do YOU Thinkith??

And it was said on "Stump the Tech Day USA" that we may never know!!

Have a good rest of the week Jim and all others out there. Peace be with you and yours.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits. (Just Kidding) :-)

As they say, if you stand by the river long enough you will eventually see the bodies of your enemies floating by.

Happy New Year.

Sorry I missed the Christmas greetings. I hope you all had the best you could have.

You might review your call list (slot & name) If the auto arming is calling out the last entry as the stay then blank for the away arm.. Try adding, name= "Auto-Armed" in the last= "slot".. . . . Just my guess you understand, The last DCS I worked on was like 20 years ago.. ;-)

Best of 2022 to you and all....

Sorry Rocky, you didn't read all I typed. What I did not type is that there are a total of 43 codes in the system. Mary Smith was #42 and John Doe is #34. #42 is now blank.

The mystery continues!!

Quick question, does the user slots have general, partitions, or select groups..?. With only the general group being chosen for your report..?

Just grasping at straws now..

Hi Rocky,

From Default programming I just added the Name, Code and Partition 1 for each user. This is not my first DSC Neo, but is the first for Auto Arm. Personally I find the DSC Neo a HUGE PITA. I can affirm that it was NOT designed for the Installer!!!

Such as the 5 straight pins for connecting the PCLink to the board. Always have to remember it's is the left 4 pins and the Connector needs to be UP. I marked my cable with UP to help me get it right. Then I just found out that in order to get a signal to the C/S for a completed Download or Programming I had to turn on (308)(312)-4 DLS Lead Out.

First off why would the label be "Lead Out" What does that mean?? Then it sends a Contact ID code of both 627 and 628??

627 Program mode entry 628 Program mode exit

As opposed to "412 Successful download/access"

Well that is just a few of my Pet Peeves on the DSC Neo system.

I typed the above to inform all that read this of things you may not have known before and hopefully helped your knowledge level.

Have a good day!!

In times past I used a panel group from Israel.. Talk about weird programing. Really the problem was in language translation.. Whoever translated Hebrew to English for their manuals needs to go back to school... Hebrew reads right to left.. English reads left to right.. Those bits in the middle usually made sense, but that was about all..

Software programmers can take two miles of code to do the simplest thing, like turn on or off a switch...

{if A=+1 and B=-1, then if A & B are on at same time you get "BOOM"} Now see now simple that was....

Hi Les, I'm just finding time to respond to this problem you posed, As you know I have used Napco products for decades and only come into contact with other mfg's on takeovers so I can't speak from experience. In this case with auto arming with Napco auto arming uses the user # 1 code and it can't be changed, So obviously I've never had any similar experience I can call upon to figure out the problem you are having. Related to that, when using the Napco starlink connect cellular radio, and remote arming is used through the cell phone app's virtual keypad, user 00 is used. So again no equivalent that I can call upon. Sooo000OOOO ? Did you figure it out? and you're just holding back on the answerith to keep uth in thuthspenseith? or is it sthtill a mithterey - ith (Why am I all of a sudden lisping)

Hi Jim,

No I am not keeping secrets on this. The DSC Tech did say that the Auto-Arm uses Slot 00. But in this case that is not true. He wanted me to be on site to pull the history off the system and then he could help with figuring it out. However, I don't see this a end of days problem so I don't want to spend T-I-M-E trying to figure it out. It is just not worth it to me. I have sent an email to the office manager that gets the emails on the closing and explained the issue as best I could. And just said to please ignore the name listed since it is not true.

Sorry this will be an on going issue with out a solution that I can produce.

Now, if someone reading this thread should be a bit of a expert with DSC and would have a REALLY GOOD clue as to the problem I will give it a try. Sorry but that is the best I can do at this time.

Have a good week!!

Les
