Cat 5 wiring?

Can or should? You can, but should you?...I wouldn't.

Use 22/4 stranded or solid..your choice. Firewire for fire circuits.

18/2 for power, siren etc.

oh yeah..Cat 5 for telco and network.

Hi Folks,

Dead quick one, can I use Cat5 Cable as alarm cable? If so, anyone have a wiring scheme?

Cheers TIA Ol

Simple reason why is I have 600 metres lying around that needs using and i have an alarm system to fit!

Maybe it's not such a good idea tho.....

The next question is do i need 4 or 6 core? this is just for a standard house installation with 4 PIRs and 4 window shock sensors.

TIA Ol

4 conductor for powered devices and most keypads.....2 for power and 2 for circuit. Having an extra pair at door/window sensors is a plus as well.
