2,3,4 wire smoke detectors?

My smoke detectors have 3 wires coming out of them.

Black, white, and yellow.

Black and white fr 110VAC and the yellow for interconnectivity.

All I see discussed is 2 and 4 wire.

Would someone please unconfuse me?

2 and 4 wire smoke detectors as referred to in this group, are low voltage devices used in alarm installations. The one's you are talking about are 110vac units.

Do any 2 or 4 wire units have battery backup?

They are powered by the alarm control, which has a battery backup. There are no batteries in the detectors themselves. js

Technically, they all do. The battery is in the alarm control panel.
