VLAN1 tagged on trunk?

Feb 13, 2006 2 Replies

Hi everybody, I have a port channel on a C4509 configured as trunk: interface Port-channel5 switchport switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport mode trunk ! All vlans work correct on the other side of the channel besides vlan 1. The other side is a vmware ESX machine with a virtual switch inside, which seems to need vlan 1 tagged over the trunk. Can someone give me a hint how to config this? Thx Steffen

vlan dot1q tag native

I ran into this very issue myself not more than a couple of days ago. Can you elaborate (or anyone, for that matter) on the implications of tagging VLAN 1 traffic using this command? Does that mean that all untagged traffic is dropped?

TIA.
