What does the /24 mean? As in 10.5.2.1/24 thanks

netmask consists of 24 contiguous 1 bits from the left and therefor the last 8 bits are zero bits.

i.e. netmask in dotted decimal is 255.255.255.0

So 10.5.2.1/22 would be 255.255.252.0 ?

Thank you for the help. It is most appreciated!
