PPP session bytecount in syslog?

We run a Cisco router with IOS 12.4 that among other things is used for handling PPTP connections from mobile workers. It is a small-scale system, and we handle authentication locally on the router (no aaa new-model, username xxx password yyy). The router sends its logging output to a syslog server. In this output we can see the connection setup and teardown, but not the amount of data transferred during the session. Is there some method to get this info logged, without having to setup the whole aaa accounting stuff, a radius server, etc? When debug ppp authentication is active the router logs the username. Maybe some other command would make it log the bytecounts as well?
