ftp from the router

Nov 23, 2005 2 Replies

I would like to ftp the config file from the router itself to a ftp server with copy xyz ftp:. I have no problem with ftp to a ftp server with a real ip address.

What I am trying to do is to ftp to a remote host which is behind the ipsec gateway. I can use the extended ping to ping the remote host, but how can I do it with ftp ?

[my router] ---- vpn ipsec connection

----[remote-router]----[remote-ftp-host] ^^^^^^ I am here

Thanks,

DT

I assume extended ping works because you can specify a source address for the VPN tunnel?

Sounds like you want to use "ip ftp source interface" command to force an interface other than the default to be the source address of the FTP packets.

Thanks a lot Phillip. It works well. I should have looked more carefully on the commands supported by "ip ftp".
