Ethernet Interface for 2851?

Hello,

we have a router 2851. This one has two ethernet LAN interfaces. Now we need a third one. I found a single port WAN ethernet interface. But this looks a bit expensive. Then there are switching interfaces with a lot more ports. But we want to route over this additional ethernet port, so we don't need switching capability. Thus, what would be the best solution for a third LAN interface?

You need a HWIC-1FE. This is your only option for a 2800 series ISR if you want to add a new 100MBit-Module with one port. Maybe there are some other used, refurbished modules available, but many of the won't work. Take a look at Table 3:

Here's a list of all compatible modules for this router. In some cases, the WIC modules from older routers won't work in the

1800/2800/3800 series routers.

Nice list, but it seems to be a bit out of date. The HWIC-1FE is missing, but it works in a 28xx:
