Configuring Cisco for PPP T1

Everything looks fine, but your bandwidth command should read 1536 instead of 1536000. This has no impact on wether or not the interface will come up or not, just a note.

Basic things, issue the "no shut" command in interface config mode, check your cabling (roll TX and RX possibly?). Ive used these cards lots, your config should work.

Another note, I have another T1 that is running into a 1605 via the same model WIC card, and if I take the cable out of it and plug it into the card on the 3640, "sh ip int brie" shows the status as up, but the protocol down (which is expected because I haven't configured the interface for that particular T1 line). But when plugging in the T1 line that I want to work (the one currently plugged into the external CSU), both the status and protocol show as down.

Don't know if that helps with anything?

What is the external CSU/DSU configured as? Are the default values on the WIC-1DSU-T1 compatible? Ie. B8ZS encoding, ESF framing, 24 timeslots, recover clocking from the line? I would definately check those, especially # of timeslots.

Maybe the card is bad. Referencing your later post, can you move the WIC card from the 1605 over to your 3640?

Thanks for the response. You're right, I need to see how the CSU/DSU is configured and compare that with the WIC-1DSU-T1 default settings.

Be sure to verify line code. If it is differant than what the linecode is set on the T1 line, it will show as down.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. After logging into the CSU/DSU and looking at the configuration, I noticed that the clock source was set to internal, where as the default clock source for the WIC-1DSU-T1 is set to line. I changed the WIC card to internal and it came right up. Thanks again.
