Cisco 1721 IP routing question

Aug 22, 2006 2 Replies

Hi: I just installed a cisco 1721 today (08/22) after our cisco 1720 died over the weekend. It is up and running but I am having trouble with the ip classless command. I add the command in command mode but never see it in the running-configuration. We are currently running IOS 12.4. The router that died had 12.3 running on it and the configuration showed ip classless. Here are snippets from each configuration.

12.4 on Cisco 1721 ! ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 xxx.xxx.xx.x (address munged) ! no ip http server no ip http secure-server

12.3 on Cisco 1720 ip classless ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 xxx.xxx.xx.x (address munged) ! no ip http server no ip http secure-server

Anyone know what might be going on here? Hope someone can help. Thanks, David H

Try no ip classless, if this shows in config. Maybe ip classless is default and doesnt show in config.

Hi Make: Ok - I tried it and it did appear in the configuration with no ip classless but did not show when I entered ip classless after. So you must be correct - that must be the default and maybe latest IOS is "lazy" and does not show the defaults. I was just worried when I saw the new configuration versus the old one. Thanks for your input. David H.
