ASA 5510 Security Plus - 5 FE interfaces

Oct 28, 2007 2 Replies

Hi! It says in the specifications of ASA 5510 with a Security Plus license that it has 5 FE ports. From what I have seen from cisco documentation and internet sites there are 4 FE ports and there is a Management Port. Is the Management port the fifth FE port or is there some other FE port?

What are the designations of the FE ports. I guess they should be : Ethernet0/0 Ethernet0/1 Ethernet0/2 Ethernet0/3

What is the fifth port. Is it Ethernet0/4 or something else?

Regards.

The management interface is a Fast Ethernet interface designed for management traffic to the ASA only. It is specified as management0/0.

The management interface can be used for the traffic that passes through the firewall as well. The Security Plus License for the ASA 5510 is required in order to use the management0/0 port as a regular interface.

With a base license on the 5510, the management0/0 port cannot be used as a regular interface.
