I have a 2507 router and on inspection of the flash memory modules, they appear to simply be SIMM memory modules, I want to know if I can upgrade this ram with ordinary SIMM modules

huh??? they're NOT the same.. simm is 72 pin.. but flash are 80 pin it won't fit..
