Switch ISP

Hello,

I have DSL which is provided by my ISP (Hiwaay.net) through BellSouth. When I got the DSL my ISP provided a modem which connected me to the internet through him automatically.

Now I'm considering changing to a different (as yet unknown) ISP. I'm guessing that to make the switch, I would merely switch to the DSL modem that the new ISP provides me and that I would then be connected to the Internet via the new ISP automatically when I go on-line. Is that correct or would my old ISP have to get involved with making the switch?

Depending on Bellsouth's policies they might not need to know until the plug is pulled or they might have agree before the switch can happen. The later would prevent "poaching" or slamming.
