SoCal Verizon 3000/768 residential service?

DSLExtreme.com has rolled out new 6000/608 service to SBC customers in Socal for about $60. I'm not with SBC POTS, but Verizon. Anyway, my phone# qualifies for 3000/768 for $45 a month for 12 months through DSLExtreme. Sounds terrific.

Anyway, I currenly have 1500/156 service via Verizon DSL. So I called DSLExtreme and asked them how to switch over, and they said that I had to be disconnected from Verizon DSL for 10-15 Business days. :-(

When I called Verizon to cancel service, the billing person said that I could upgrade my service to 3000/768 and that it would take 2 days. Cost? $45 a month no 12 month commitment. However, she then connected me with a local sales rep who denied it. The rep said that by the end of August Verizon will offer the service but that there were experiencing "glitches".

Go figure.
