I have an "Australian" DSL-302G ADSL modem/router. Is there any reason why I should not flash it with US or UK firmware?

Yes, if you are using/going to use BigPond. They use a custom flavor of DHCP. My router offers an option.

That's what I'm asking. Is the difference merely in the initial software/firmware configuration to account for local preferences, or is there a physical difference in the modem's DAA or AFE?
