I have an old laptop that only has USB 1.0. Will any of those USB dongle thingies allow me to connect? (I'd rather not do a pcmcia card.) thanks

Hi Even if a the device is USB2 802.11g it is downward compatible. Jack (MVP-Networking).
you'll top out at 11or12 MB/Sec due to USB1 but apart from that it should be fine.

Make life easy so nobody has to guess. Write it out as in: xx bytes/sec and xx bits/sec and never mind trying to invent a new abrev.
