Newbie alert! - WAN light flashes rapidly

Jun 21, 2005 1 Replies

I'm setting up my first wireless system and have a D-Link 514 wireless router. The first couple of setup steps has me connecting my cable modem to the router's WAN port, which I've done using D-Link's supplied cable. I get the impression from the instructions that the Wan light, at this preliminary point, should be on steady. Mine flashes rapidly. Is this OK or should it be steady? I've reset the modem and switched cables, but no luck. Remember, I'm only connected between the modem and the router, no pc is involved, yet. Thanks.

It is normal for the WAN light to flash when there is activity between the modem and router.Even if you don't do anything there is activity every few seconds for synchronization. Adam
