laptop to home computer networking

laptop to home computer networking

hi i have a laptop with wifi. i have a home computer with a usb wifi.

my question is this, can i connect both comps by wifi, without having a router.?

i know that if i want to use them on the internet, then i need a router, but what about computer to computer.
