i have DSL, with a wireless router, WEP, and MAC filtering. I have excellent signal strength for all of my network devices (on a wireless-g network). When i test the bandwidth

on my laptop i get 2100-2700 kbps. On my desktop (with 77-81% signal strength) i get at best 800 kbps at best it's a fast machine, and i want the fastest connection possible -- any suggestions?



do all of your downloads run at that speed or just some? all downloads from all servers or all downloads from the same server? was this a

1-time thing or is it consistent? do you get the same results when you connect desktop/laptop directly to DSL modem by-passing the router? 73, rich, n9dko

Switch to WPA (WEP is too weak) and lose the MAC filtering (which is trivial to bypass).
