I recently upgraded the firmware (c1200-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA2) in my Cisco1200 and 1100 APs. Unfortunately something very odd is now happening.
Cisco client cards (Windows), Xyxel USB (Windows), an Intel ProWireless3945 (Linux), a wireless PDA and an Asus wireless bridge all connect fine.
However, any of the ten Orinoco Gold cards and an Intel ProWireless 2100 simply do not even see the SSID. It is like there is no wireless signal that they can see.
I have turned off all security and numerous times been through making sure all the Cisco extensions are disabled, min rate is set to 1Mb etc. - but these older cards just will not even see the wireless signal. There is nothing in the firmware release notes which is relevant either.
I have Netstumbler running on the Intel 2100 card and it has picked up every wireless network in the neighbourhood but cannot see the Cisco 1200 that is sitting underneath it!
I have a Chinese no-brand AP which everything can see fine. It seems the recent Cisco firmwares have added something to make them incompatible.
Anyone have any ideas or heard anything on these lines?
