Belkin f5d7000 PCI setup nightmare

Clean XP install. SP1 on but not SP2.

Installed f5d7000 PCI card following the manual. Its a version 1 card. Installed software. Installed card. Rebooted. Pointed XP to the drivers. Everything OK.

Card works, picking up the wireless network thrown out by my Netgear router.

But.. it's only reading as 34Mbs instead of 54Mbs.. so like a div, I start messing about in the f5d7000 properties. I find a setting for the speed which is set to "54g (auto)" and I change it to "54g (performance)"

On clicking OK, the card then looses the wireless connection from the router, and I cannot get it back. It's just showing no wireless networks exist anymore. I've rebooted, reinstalled, system restore and reinstall... nothing.

Routers still working and the networks there as my other PC is picking it up fine.

Help! Have I fried the f5d7000 ???
