It must be at least 5 or 6 years since I first saw "Draft-N" or "Pre-N" devices. Is there any word when the Standard is likely to be finalized?

2009 is the current date - nothing more specific than that has come out from the IEEE that I know of. Just keep in mind, even with Wi-Fi Alliance certified products, there's no way to be sure any of the current 802.11n devices will be compatible with the final standard.
