'Human Error' caused two-thirds of Minnesota 911 calls to be dropped, outage report says [telecom]

An internal CenturyLink investigation into the causes behind a recent state-wide 911 outage pointed to "human error" on the part of one of their vendors, state officials said Wednesday.

The Aug. 1 outage caused roughly two-thirds of calls to the state's

911 dispatch centers to fail. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, 693 calls "failed to be routed" during the roughly hour-long outage, while 356 calls statewide were successfully routed through a redundant system.
