got a new 6160 key pad and it still read open ckt. so now I have swapped out the vista 20p. Is there anything I need to look for before I hook this up. Does anyone have an installation manual for this alarm

I don't know that you should have gone and gotten a new keypad. Are you hooking the keypad up right at the control? I'm thinking you might have a wiring problem (lie a staple or screw) through the jacket.
Yes and a qualified service tech will have one as well
