I'm building a home and I want to get up to speed on home security options. I figure it's easier to put it in now than retrofit later. I'd want the ability to monitor inside & outside via the Internet when I'm away, auto-on cameras & lights, off-site recording. What else should I be looking at? Thanks for your help.

What you're describing might be better accomplished using a home automation controller rather than a *security* system. Take a look at the ELK Products model ELK-M1G controller. It offers UL-listed security and residential fire with full home automation capabilities, Internet access and control (TCP/IP add-on card), telephone remote control (built-in functionality) and a whole bunch more.
