PP8600 hot vs warm stand-by

Hi all,

Customer wants to implement hot stand-by on 2xpp8610 passports.

Now I have to tell them reasons for and against hot stand-by. I need more detailed which issues are not supported by hot-standby, so I can give the explanation to customer.

I wouldn't like that customer implement hot stand-by and then it has some problems which I didn't tell him.

Does anyone have some document and detailed info why use or why not use hot stand-by?

p.s.software is 4.0., they'll have vrrp, smlt, ospf, filters, rules...

Thanks very much,

Ivana

Do you mean the HA mode of CPU module? Usually, the CPU HA mode on Passport 8600 is called hot standby . Anyway, no matter which one you mean, don't use firmware from 4.0 -

4.0.6 Check the release notes and you can get the answer.

Regards
