I've owned ZoneAlarm for years, but I'm wondering if it is worth the investment to get the continuous updates.
Question: What are some examples of security risks fixed with ZoneAlarm updates?
I would think that at this point the software should be rock solid, and updates would just be adding features, adding new bugs, and fixing some previous bugs.
It's not.
None yet. A solid uninstall option might come close though ;-)

For personal firewalls that's about the same thing.
