Are there any firewall software that block programs from running?

I still don't understand why you have to redownload vmware/virtualpc all the time and reinstall it? How often do you do that that it is so bothersome to block it the first time it would come up in your PFW?

The apps inside the vm can be limited from network access just by removing the network adapter inside the vm for instance. Without network adapter there is nothing to talk to. Limiting vmware/virtualpc in addition does not seem necessary here.

I think I still not fully understand what you are up to...

Of course. I use ZoneAlarm to stop Virtual PC accessing the net. What's the problem?

I said I want *Virtual PC* to stop accessing the net, not the virtual

*machine* that is being emulated. There is a difference, you know.

Processguard can do it.

I |know norton does this 2005, but I'm looking to possibly not use it and |go a better route cus of system resources and norton just causes some |issues with its firewall. what i was hoping i could do is in a firewall |program just tell it to find an installer file or the actual program |file or both and just not allow it to run. even if you try to download |another of the same program like a demo or trial version it still also |would not run. even if you renamed the program name it wouldn't run.

Maybe System Safety Monitor (SSM) is something like what you're looking for. Apparently it's free. See

to find out about it.
