We have some six port ethernet cards that take SFP modules for each port. The manufacturer recommends Finisar brand SFPs without specifying a specific part number. Finisar appears to have many dozens of part variations for gigabit ethernet compatible SFPs, each with its own part number. Some of these are OEM specific and others are functional variations on the general theme. Are there any general guidelines about which Finisar SFP part numbers are the best all-purpose ones to use for a gigabit ethernet 850nm application?
