VLANs limitations

May 30, 2006 1 Replies

Hi Is any VLANs limitation on Cisco 1801 or Cisco 1841. I have small project where I want use Cisco 1801 (preffered) or 1841 to inter-vlan routing+CAR QoS between about 50 VLANs.

What kind of software license I need to use VLANs on 18xx?

Thanks, Robert

The limitation is not VLAN's but the platform. The 1800 series supports a maximum of 8 VLANs, and is not a very powerful routing platform. To support

50+ VLANs, QoS, and routing, etc, you need a 3560 or 3750 series switch. If you want to rate-limit, you need a "Metro" series switch.
