VLANs et DHCP server

is it possible 2 have 2 vlans in the same subnet ??

eg vlan1 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.50 vlan2 192.168.1.51 - 192.168.1.100 both have same subnet mask ... 255.255.255.0

can i have only one dhcp server serving both vlans ?? if yes how will teh dhcp server knw from which address pool 2 allocate address from ??

also one more fundamental qt ... can the router actually router between the 2 vlan's since they are in same subnet ???? (most probably a 2600 router)

thanks

I don't know much about Vlans but i'll answer what I think I do know.

Yes, you could have two vlans sharing the same subnet. No, they wouldn't route between each other, as the packets wouldn't attempt to go to the default gateway. You could route between them using double natting, but that's a pain to setup. Much better to split the subnets up with VLSM ie

192.168.1.0 255.255.255.192 192.168.1.64 255.255.255.192 192.168.1.128 255.255.255.192 192.168.1.192 255.255.255.192
