Upgrading to 2950 switch from 2924 - process?

Hi: Presently have a single 2924 Switch connected to a 1720 Router and a PIX

515. 4- ports on the 2924 have died so we are replacing with a 2950.

Would like this to be as quick and non-disruptive as possible. Ideally pre-configure the new 2950, then simply disconnect the 2924 and make the connections to the 2950.

  1. Is this practical?
  2. What information do I need to get from the 2924 in order to configure the 2950?
  3. Am I safe in assuming the 1720 and 515 won't require any changes?

Thanks PS

You should be able to use the same config on the 2950. This should get you at least 98% there. When you paste in the new config, note any lines that the 2950 doesn't like.
