I am looking for documents explaining the difference between interface and subinterface, what I can do /cannot do on subinterface ...

I searched on Cisco.com but I cannot find what I look for.

Any advice is really appreciated.

Thanks a lot, Anthrax. Those docs really help.

The number of subinterfaces is directly related to the IDBs, IOS and platform you have. A subinterface is a logical interface that allows the router interaction for routing purposes. If your IDBs allows the maximum, the maximum supported stills being 300 (for IOS platforms only). Check the docs. Hopes this helps.
