Got a wierd one. I can use PDM to manage a remote PIX with no problems however i cannot SSH into it at all using the same username and password that i do for the PDM. My username is setup with privilege 15 but no go. What am i missing? I am using a PIX 501 -> LAN-TO-LAN -? Cisco 3000 Concentrator

Im sure it is something simple I am missing.

Well, the whole config for a start! How can we tell what you are missing without first looking at what you have?

Anyway, as a guess ..

aaa-server LOCAL protocol local aaa authentication ssh console LOCAL

This is presuming that SSH is working okay.

Chris.

You can only SSH to a PIX using the username "pix" and the enable password :-) Once connected you can then use the login command and enter your Level 15 Username / Password.

James

You can SSH, Telnet and even console using any configured username/password if the pix setup to do it, you do not and should not rely on using default credentials.

aaa-server LOCAL protocol local aaa authentication ssh console LOCAL aaa authentication enable console LOCAL aaa authentication telnet console LOCAL aaa authorization command LOCAL

username password priv
