OWA through PIX

Hi,

I want to give access for my remote users to OWA (mobile users connect to the VPN and then exchange) by using a non standard port, let say 9999 over http (not ssl) to the default exchange location as in: http://external_IP:9999/exchange/username to point to http://internal_IP/exchange/usernameI have setup PIX with an access-list and a static using the port forwarding, users are being asked for username and password, the OWA page starts loading, and then everything becomes unavailable? If I don't do port forwarding everything works like a charm. Any ideas please?

If you are using the MSIE to access Exchange, the Exchange server will send you an ActiveX control which contains and contact the local adresses. You need to change the browser string to prevent ActiveX.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that OWA won't understand that your users are connecting via port 9999, and will create URLs and references that use the standard HTTP port. Since this is not accessible, it causes a problem.

I might suggest adding port 9999 to the Default Web Site (or to whatever site you are using in IIS), don't do the port forwarding (just accept on port 9999 and forward to port 9999) and see if that helps at all.
