nvram bytes free

Hi

I have a 2950G-24, the running-config is 8400 bytes in size, the startup-config is 8000 bytes in size, the nvram has 32768 bytes in total but 'dir all-filesytems' says there is only 73 bytes free so I cannot save the running to startup. I know I can increase the buffersize but -

I also have a 3550-24 and on this unit I have over 20K bytes free with the same config installed

Any ideas ??

Thanks

Carl

Can you post output from "show nvram:" or equivalent for your specific platform? You could have some more files on it or vlan.dat or some other things (defpends how new is your IOS).

here it is

router#dir all-filesystems Directory of flash:/

7741440 bytes total (2463744 bytes free) Directory of nvram:/

25 -rw- 7968 startup-config 26 ---- 99 private-config

32768 bytes total (73 bytes free) Directory of system:/

2 dr-x 0 memory 1 -rw- 8389 running-config

No space information available

To get around this for now I copied the running to flash:/start.cfg and changed the boot config-file path to flash:/start.cfg

Carl

Hi

FYI

2950 pre 12.1(20)EA1 contains a bug where some nvram isn't released upon config writes, the bug ID is CSCeb45692

IOS upgrade ;)
