Failover IP Question

Jan 21, 2008 1 Replies

Currently I have a single ASA 5510 at my datacenter and I am attempting to add another for active/passive failover. My issue is that for my internet facing interface I was only given a /30. So say my ip address 192.168.1.106 255.255.255.252 and my gateway is

192.168.1.105. Now when trying to configure the failover I need another address in the network and there isnt one available of course. Is my my only course of action to get a larger block of addresses from my ISP? Thanks.

Cory

Hi Cory,

As the ASA failover function will need to monitor outside, inside, failover interface etc, how would you be able to monitor the outside interface between the 2 x devices if they didn't sit on the same network.

I believe that you would need to apply for a new block of IP's.

Darren
